Unlike other GC meetings however, this one began with a moment of silence and a prayer for the family and friends of those affected by the terrorist attack in Paris. As a global organization, many of us had family, friends or colleagues in Paris and anxiously awaited news of their safety.
Questions permeated throughout the room and at the trade show as to what affect this attack would have on future travel plans and meetings in Paris. What may have sent our industry into a tail spin many years ago interestingly had the exact opposite affect; one of solidarity “with” Paris. We live in a changed world, and I’m not sure if we have just adapted to it; or understand the necessity of continuing to move forward; albeit with caution. Either way we were in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe conducting our meeting, attending the trade show, and enjoying tapas at our favorite restaurant; in tribute to our friends in Paris.
